The cohesive and efficient execution of the Programme was facilitated by the active engagement of all staff.
Since achieving ISO14001 accreditiation in 2010 the Company has now announced its plan to rebrand the business with a major focus on the Environment. In June 2011 we will be announcing a 30 point plan which will generate significant carbon reductions.
Health & Safety
We have achieved OHSAS 18001 accreditation in March 2010. The programme was headed up by Ian Clark who is now qualified in NEBOSH. The targeted achievements featured in this programme include extensive Executive and Staff Health & Safety training, improved understanding of Best Practice, greater auditing of actual processes and activities and eradication of Health & Safety Non-Conformances.
On a quarterly basis a Health & Safety meeting is held at each depot to highlight any H&S issues and best practices and then a national meeting is held every other quarter to consolidate the points raised and monitor performance. Our established Safety Committee have local representatives who work as Drivers, Managers, Washbay Operatives and Mechanics.
In the meantime between the quarterly meetings we also operate a Near Miss Reporting system for employees to report incidents that require Management Action in the meantime. We actively promote the reporting of near misses.
In addition to the employee engagement programmes mentioned above, ART carry out Risk Assessments at loading and delivery points on a weekly basis. The aim of these assessments is to highlight the potential risks we bring to the operation and to identify potential risks at the site - our pro-active approach looks to avoid incidents before they occur.
HACCP & ISO 22000
Upon completion of the achievement of the Environmental Standard ISO 14001 & Health & Safety OHSAS 18001, we have charged Steve Lucy with the integration of our existing HACCP procedures into a coherent Food Safety Management system. Accreditation to ISO 22000 is planned for 2011.
