ART's Training Initiatives

Staff Workshops 1Continuous improvement and commitment to standards of excellence are what keeps Abbey Roadtanks in prime position within our business sector. Our C.A.R.E. (Customers Are Reasons for Excellence) programme and our people who deliver it provide the impetus and focus for many of our development and training initiatives. The importance of integrating our customers' needs and the skills, knowledge, and attitudes of our people provides the core ideology for our future business direction. It was in this regard that on three successive Saturdays in January 2010 we delivered a successful series of one day participative Workshops for all our Drivers and Planning staff, 150 in total.

 

Staff Workshops 7Centred in the North West, Hull, and London the Workshops were designed to assist our Drivers and Planners to improve their performance in a number of key areas of their respective roles, and to enhance teamwork and coordination of effort in delivering our services to customers. The modules included Health & Safety, Environmental Standards, Customer Care, Drivers Hours, Food Hygiene, and Safe & Fuel Efficient Driving.

 

Staff Workshops 6The facilitated sessions were presented by our Directors and Senior Managers, with planned activities aimed at optimising the involvement of the participants in exploring and committing to new and innovative practices, and improvements. The Workshops were approved by JAUPT (Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training) and therefore contributed a further seven hours training to our Drivers CPC accreditation.

 

Staff Workshops 4As a result of these Workshops many improvements have already been implemented with others in the development stages. They were highly rated by all staff who also felt that we had established a means of building closer working relationships with key functional groups, which will be a significant feature in future developments.
